This tutorial is part of the Sew-Along for our Pintuck Cami Pattern. Buy your copy HERE!

In Part 1 steps 1-3 we learnt how to create pretty pintucks.

4. Now let's join the side seams. If you haven't already, finish the raw edges of the side seams with zig-zag stitching or overlocking.
Place your back and front with right sides together and sew the side seams.

5. Make the straps. To do so fold the fabric long the length with right sides together and sew using a 1.5cm seam allowance to create a long tube. turn the tube the right way out by attaching a large safety pin to one end and feeding it through the tube. bull through until the tube is fully turned the right way out and press. I also chose to topstitch the strap approx. 3mm from the edge. This keeps the strap flat and also is a decorative feature. You could sew down both sides of the strap if you wish, or neither!

6. Next attach the straps to the main body front and back, make sure the straps don't get twisted. pin with the pinheads sticking out so you can removed them to place the facing.

7. Join the side seams of the facings in the same way as you joined the main back and front. Then turn the main body panels the right way out and keep the facing the  wrong way out. Slip the facing over the main, aligning the neckline edges. Pin in pace all around the neckline.

8.  Stitch the facing in place. When stitching around the straps you want to stitch close to the strap edges but not on them to create a neat insertion. you can mark this with pins or you may wish to draw a stitching line on with an erasable marking pen or chalk.

9. To reduce bulk, snip the corners off at the point where the strap is joined and snip into curved seams. This releases the seam and helps it to sit flatter.

10. Press the facing to the inside of the top, rolling the facing towards the inside. Topstitch 3mm from the edge around the whole neckline.

Give everything one final press and enjoy your

gorgeous new cami top!
