Hi everyone!

I am so excited to be back on the Crafty Sew and So Blog. The last skirt I made for the Crafty Sew and So blog was a massive success and I receive so many compliments every time I wear it. So it was an easy choice to make the My Handmade Wardrobe Wrap Skirt this time. I find skirts such a versatile piece in my wardrobe. I am drawn to plain fabrics for tops so a printed skirt is always a nice way to add a pop of interest to my outfits.

Sticking with the previous theme of making a skirt that can easily transition in between seasons I chose the Lunar Spot Viscose Lawn. This Viscose is on the higher end of the price scale but oh my! It is worth every penny! It has a lovely weight for this time of year and is perfect for a skirt, it is buttery soft and has a wonderful drape.

The skirt pattern has some lovely details and comes together very easily. The inside is finished with French seams and the instructions for doing a rolled hem on a circle are very detailed. This would be perfect for a beginner who wants to learn more about seam finishes.

I always read through the pattern instructions before I even lay my fabric out. I think this gives you a better idea of what to expect from the pattern and the entire making process usually goes a lot smoother. I knew from reading ahead that I needed to cut interfacing for the waistband while I was cutting the skirt so made sure to do this.

The only part of the instructions I found a little confusing was the position of the button and buttonhole. I put my buttonhole on the ‘loose’ end of the wrap opening, the side without the tie. I then attached the button to the inside of the waistband on the outer wrap to secure this side in place. (*We've updated the instructions to make this step clearer, thanks to Sharlene's feedback - Kim*)

I am so happy with the finished skirt. It is perfect paired with black boots, tights and a grey or black jumper. I will also wear this during the summer with a T-shirt and sandals or trainers. The skirt feels amazing to wear and the quality of the fabric really shines through. This fabric would also be beautiful as a blouse or dress.
