Nell made her slinky version of our New Pintuck Cami pattern in bold mono leaf print viscose. You can find more of her makes on Instagram @nellnotts.

I’ve been sewing on and off since school, making over ambitious party frocks badly, with total abandon, at University.  I lost the habit but started again in earnest just before I had my first child 5 years ago.  I have collected many crafty hobbies over the years (knitting, crochet, drawing, quilting….) but sewing has stuck.  I enjoy sewing because I can use it to switch off as it is completely different from my day job.  I get a lot of satisfaction from spending time on finish and I am obsessed with labels!

I really want to thank Sarah and Freya for giving me the opportunity to review the Pintuck Camisole and for gifting me some stunning fabric.  I have long wanted to try a camisole because I love the look but it isn’t something I normally wear.  This was the perfect opportunity and I’m really pleased that I did!

I enjoyed the project very much.  The pintucks on the front are a prime opportunity to add a bit of detail that isn’t too time consuming but still adds a bit of interest.  I think they would look especially stunning in a plain fabric too.  I found them slightly tricky at first but once I got into the swing of pinching the tuck together and pinning it went much more smoothly.

This project is also a quick sew, using a relatively small amount of fabric so would make a fab luxurious gift or a use for some left over precious fabric.  If, like me, you’re a sucker for spending time on finishing, there is lots of opportunity to go all out here too.

The one thing I would say is that there is not a huge amount of ease in the bust here.  If, like me, you often find yourself having to make a full bust adjustment you may like to make a toile to check sizing first.

Overall I think the resulting garment is lovely – much like a vintage style baby doll.  I think it could also be hacked into a lovely sun dress by simply lengthening it as its quite a-line in cut.

It’s versatile, you can see I have put it with jeans but also the PJ bottoms (from Crafty Sew & So) in matching fabric.

Since the fabric is floaty and light, the set is clearly quite summery so I think I will pack it up and it will be like a gift to myself next summer!

Happy Sewing!
